I watched a documentary yesterday regarding extra-terrestrial beings. There is this facility in University of California, Berkley that is searching for a transmission signal in outer space sent by other civillizations. Ever since it started, it has yet to detect any. Also, some people were debating that the US govt could be witholding some information regarding aliens. The first thought that came to my mind was why do we even bother if there are aliens or not? We already have so many problems on Earth that are yet to be resolved. The money spent on extra-terrestrial beings' research could be well spent on other areas like alleviating poverty. Searching for aliens, I believe, should be of least priority. Only after we have tackled the problems we have at hand. Besides, all these years, we haven't had any aliens contacting us. So why do we go search for them? If trouble doesn't come, don't go look for trouble.
I watched "The day the earth stood still" today and the message was for humankind to save the earth or face elimination by people from other civilization. It was said that the earth cannot support such a complex organism like human. This statement actually holds some truth. Humans have never-ending needs and wants. Before we existed, only animals roamed the earth and there weren't things like deforestation, hole in the ozone layer etc. The more humans there are, the more we consume. It sounds pessimistic but i don't see how the earth can sustain any more people. Await the 2nd coming, as christians believe, is the only way to salvation. The world will come to an end. With this end, there will be a new beginning.
